We are teaming up with Scrapyard & Elv8 to host a multi-gym bouldering competition, encouraging climbers to travel to three West Michigan climbing gyms to claim glory. Scores are cumulative, and the highest three scores in each category wins. There will be prizes at each individual competition, but the big prizes will be awarded at the end of finals on the last day.

Event Schedule —

Carpooling from Terra Firma Bouldering Co.

If you want to carpool to Reed's Lake from the gym, arrive at the gym at 8:00am so we can drive to the park together to start the walk on time. We will be outside of the gym in the parking lot. 

Meet at Reed's Lake (Remington Park Lot)

Meet at the parking lot by the dog park, and baseball field. The address for that parking lot is 2310 Reeds Lake Blvd SE, East Grand Rapids, MI 49506. It's a bigger parking lot and we can meet there before the walk. 

Bird Walk

8:30 We'll begin our bird walk. We will do the boardwalks, then walk on the trail by the woods. It will be about a mile total of walking, and we usually take lots of stops. We will bring extra binoculars for folks who said they need a pair to share. I will be pointing out birds and giving helpful tips as we walk. If you want, you can download the Merlin app to help identify bird calls we will hear. We will have coffee available before and after the walk provided by Terra Firma and Last Mile Cafe.  

Bouldering

At 10:00 we will head back to the gym to climb. We are offering $12 day pass prices to everyone who comes to the birding event. If it's your first time, please fill out a  Waiver for the gym. Rental shoes are included with this event day pass. We will make sure new folks get a tour and an intro to bouldering safety.

Join us for a walk/run and climb at the bouldering gym after!

New to climbing? No worries, so are we! You’ll be in great company. New to running? You’re in the perfect place with Friendship Miles. This group is inclusive, all levels, and a great way to break into the social running scene!
