Thursday, December 11th, we’re excited to welcome The Phoenix Grand Rapids into our space for a FREE night of climbing and connection!

This event is hosted by The Phoenix, a sober active community built on the belief that belonging and support can change lives. The only requirement to attend is 48 hours of sobriety. Led by Jamen Spitzer, the evening is all about showing up as you are, connecting with others, and trying something new in a supportive environment.

About The Phoenix: Their mission is to build a sober active community where connection fuels resilience and people can rise, recover, and live fully. Through weekly sober events, they create safe, welcoming spaces for all.

We’re switching things up for Ladies Night and making it a little more personal this month! Our events coordinator, Courtney, will be hosting the evening — helping folks connect, meet new friends, and share goals.

We’ll kick things off with quick introductions and a fun icebreaker to get to know each other. After, we’ll chat about our bouldering challenges, goals, and what everyone’s working toward! Whether your sending your first green tag, building confidence on the wall, or just finding your crew, we’re excited to have you attend this meet-up!

Ladies Night is open to all women, femmes, and nonbinary climbers who want to climb in a supportive, encouraging space. No pressure, no expectations… just good vibes, growth, and community on and off the wall =)

We’re giving our LGBTQIA+ Meet-Up a fresh, more personal feel! Our head routesetter, Jesse, will be hosting the evening to help folks connect, meet new climbers, and feel welcomed in our space! Join Hot Glue Creux at Terra Firma Bouldering Co for an evening of creative fun and climbing! We’ll walk you through the design process to create your own unique canvas patches using a custom designed stamp. You’ll learn how to carve a 3x4” lino block into a stamp as well as how to ink and print your own canvas patches. 

💖 Design: Utilize templates and trace paper to help you get started in building your stamp design, we’ve got you! 

💖 Ink: Choose from a variety of vibrant ink colors and multiple sizes of canvas patches to stamp your designs.

Combine designs with your friends and trade creations - you’ll leave with multiple patches to pin on your favorite jacket, bag or anything you want!

Event Schedule —

Meet at Reed's Lake (Remington Park Lot)

Meet at the parking lot by the dog park, and baseball field. The address for that parking lot is 2310 Reeds Lake Blvd SE, East Grand Rapids, MI 49506. It's a bigger parking lot and we can meet there before the walk. 

Bird Walk

8:30 We'll begin our bird walk. We will do the boardwalks, then walk on the trail by the woods. It will be about a mile total of walking, and we usually take lots of stops. We will bring extra binoculars for folks who said they need a pair to share. I will be pointing out birds and giving helpful tips as we walk. If you want, you can download the Merlin app to help identify bird calls we will hear.

Bouldering

At 10:00 we will head back to the gym to climb. We are offering $13 day pass prices to everyone who comes to the birding event. If it's your first time, please fill out a  Waiver for the gym. Rental shoes are included with this event day pass. We will make sure new folks get a tour and an intro to bouldering safety.

Whether you’ve got a nagging injury, or just want to make sure you’re moving your best, come hang out with Dr. Kari Chappell for a FREE 10-minute injury screening.

Dr. Kari Chappell is a Physical Therapist with 9 years of experience. Her first 8 years of practice were in Denver, CO treating an array of athletic injuries. She has her own clinic and specializes in preventing surgery, optimizing movement and helping people quickly recover from injury without having to take a big break from their sport or activity of choice.
